The setting of the story takes place at the Johansen's apartment. At the apartment many things take place such as the soliders coming to look for some jews. Another setting is in Gilleleje where Annemarie's uncle lives. At Gilleleje Annemarie and Ellen run ahead down to by the shore and they see Sweeden and boats from where they sit on the ground after they go back to their uncles house and they go inside there Moms bedroom where they will be sleeping and Kirsti will stay in the bedroom with the wide bed to sleep while there mom cooks supper.

The setting in the book Number the Stars is very important to this book because the book takes pace durning in war war 2 in denmark. And the Nazi soildgers are after the Jews in Denmark. And how Ellen is a Jew and she has to move in with annemarie's family and pretend to be in their family so she does not rolocated by the Nazi.
If the book didn't take place durning war war 2 none of the book would make sense. With the Nazi soildgers taking over and rolocating the Jews. And soildgers busting into peoples homes.

Kittycat 31,

Good description of the setting. I like the fact that you especially identified the time period that the story is taking place. That is very significant to the plot of the story.

kittycat100, The setting is important because this is where the soliders come and look for the Rosans. Also in the book many things take place there.

kittycat31, You are right if the book didn't take place at the time when there is war world 2 then none of it would make sense because barging into peoples homes is uneccary unless you want to destroy everything they have.
